MEDIF AND FREMEC
If you need a doctor's permission for air travel, ask your doctor to complete the Medical Information Form (MEDIF) not more than seven days before your travel date.
Passengers who suffer from chronic diseases or have physical disabilities may also show a FREMEC (Frequent Traveler Medical Card).
WHEELCHAIRS AND OTHER ASSISTIVE DEVICES
When booking your flight, inform the airline of your need to travel with an electric or fold-up wheelchair or a walking support. You can transport free of charge up to two mobility devices (e.g. wheelchair and walker), as checked baggage in the hold.

PASSENGERS WITH REDUCED MOBILITY
Alitalia aircraft are equipped with movable aisle armrests to facilitate movement between the wheelchair and the seat. All aircraft of the Alitalia fleet are equipped with wheelchairs on board to assist PRMs. Aircraft of Alitalia partner airlines may not be equipped with wheelchairs on board verify it at the time of booking. For Carer’s travelling with reduced mobility passenger priority will be given for them to sit next to each other. No discount is available for Carer’s.
If you need to travel on a stretcher, you can request this special service when you book your flight tickets.
BLIND AND VISUALLY-IMPAIRED PASSENGERS
A Safety Briefing Card is available for blind and visually-impaired passengers on medium-haul Airbus aircraft.
GUIDE OR ASSISTANCE DOGS
When booking please let us know your need to travel with a guide dog or other assistance dog. We recommend you to use a dog harness and hold a muzzle (if your animal misbehaves during the cruise you can be asked by the captain to put your dog a muzzle on).
The transport of guide or assistance dog is free of charge. Please also note that in some countries special regulations apply to the entry of animals and we recommend you to read the rules in advance.
OTHER SERVICES FOR HEALTHY TRAVEL

CONSULT YOUR OB/GYN BEFORE DEPARTURE AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS.
Before embarking on your trip, have your attending physician complete, sign and stamp the Medical Information Form (MEDIF) not more than seven days prior to your departure date.
You will need a MEDIF if:
- You are in the last four weeks of your pregnancy
- You have medical complications related to your pregnancy
- You are having twins
From the start of your ninth month of pregnancy, request a certificate from your doctor that includes your due date.

It is inadvisable to travel seven days prior to and seven days after giving birth and if there is a risk of a premature birth or other complications. If you are traveling with a companion (recommended after the 28th week), request that he/she be seated next to you to assist you throughout your trip.
In flight, do not over-tighten the seat belt and keep it fastened higher than usual.
Promote blood circulation: wear support stockings and massage your legs from time to time. If possible, choose an aisle seat so that you are free to move around. During the flight, drink plenty of water and avoid carbonated beverages.
